SARS-CoV-2 continues to evolve in human population, accumulating new mutations. Some of these mutations are medically important, as they change virus properties. Mutations can form combinations – so-called “variants”. Some of these variants spread faster than others, leading to an increase in their frequency. Many researchers and medical organizations monitor variants and mutations. Unfortunately, up-to-date data on their frequencies in Russia remain hard to get. aggregates data on frequencies of SARS-CoV-2 variants and mutations in regions of Russia.

! Variants and mutations are not always sampled with the same probability. Therefore, the presented frequencies are not the exact numbers but the current best estimates.
